As a first time mom, I chose to be intentional about prioritizing my daughter’s hair health and established a good foundation to build on by God’s grace. I prayed about her hair that it would flourish to the glory of God.
During the early days after birth, Here’s what I did to optimize my daughters hair growth and length retention:
🤲Scalp massage: A gentle fingertip massage during her daily baths and during feeding or just holding her was soothing and supportive for encouraging healthy hair growth.
🛌Hair protection at night and during naps: I lined my baby’s bassinet with a satin scarf to help protect her hair from friction and breakage while she slept.
💦Daily hydration and moisturizing: on a daily basis, I washed and moisturized my baby’s hair with water, and sealed with my homemade shea butter mix at the infant stage. As she got older and her hair grew more, I applied our leave-in spray and sealed with our hair growth oil; these two kept her hair soft, hydrated and moisturized.
As a nurse, I believe healthy hair begins with a healthy scalp, gentle care, and consistency. Your baby's natural crown is beautiful, and with loving care, you're giving it the best opportunity to flourish.
